After the State Fair of Texas icon Big Tex was destroyed by a fire in October 2012, Bill Bragg, Big Tex’s voice was fired.  For more than a decade Bill Bragg was famous for his Big Tex voice welcoming folks to the State Fair of Texas with his bellowing “Hoooowdy folks.” A replacement Big Tex is being constructed but the Wall Street Journal reported Bill Bragg’s contract to continue to be the voice of Big Tex was not renewed because of “creative differences,” but Bill Bragg:

…a retired TV news engineer, says he is heartbroken and would do anything to get his gig back. He says officials wanted to bar him from representing himself as the voice of Big Tex except during the fair. But, he asks, "If a child sees a man in a Santa suit in July, is he supposed to deny he is Santa Claus?"

Hopefully a ground swell of Big Tex supporters can use Social Media to persuade the State Fair of Texas that Bill Bragg should be the voice of the new Big Tex. Please join me in a Social Media campaign for the State Fair of Texas to re-hire Bill Bragg.
