Accusations are flying in the EU about astroturfing by members of the European Privacy Association (EPA) in spite of the EU requirement that "requires all signatories to disclose their interests, objectives or aims and, where applicable, the clients they represent."

The EPA is listed in the category of think tanks, research and academic institutions and claims to have only 10 private (non-corporate).  However after the Corporate Europe Observatory (CEO) filed a complaint the EPA admitted that Google, Microsoft and Yahoo are secret members.  Computerworld reported that the CEO described the EPA:

….as an "astroturf organization," or front group, defending the interests of large IT corporations.

The EU report about these allegations concerning the EPA will be made by June 7, so stay tuned.
